Our dishes are made with organic and fresh produce grew in our local area. We want our guests to fully taste our genuine cuisine made with fresh ingredients.
For breakfast, we have savory and sweet dishes available. Home made desserts, seasonal fruits, local honey, cured meats, freshly baked bread, and our home made marmalade made with oranges, figs and apricots are just some of our choices. We also have our favorite varieties of Sicilian cheese and fresh ricotta cheese in our breakfast menu.
Our dinner consists of a five-course fixed menu which changes daily, with the motive for our guests to have an all-around full Sicilian experience. Some of our favorites include, pasta with “pesto alla trapanese”, pasta with sardines and wild fennel, and our very own version of the “pasta alla norma.” Our second course is a seasonal fish prepared lightly, this way the fresh flavors are more prominent. Depending on the season, some of our choices are fresh tuna, grilled or cooked in the oven with a sweet and sour topping, shrimps, and red snapper cooked under a salt crust. Additionally, we also try to assimilate the lesser-known fish such as “sarde a beccafico” (sardine stuffed with fresh breadcrumbs, pine-nuts and currants ), bealtfish and dorado. For those who do not prefer fish, meat and vegetarian dishes are also available.
In our Pensione, it is in our intention to not serve lunch because we want our guests to fully enjoy the beautiful sights of Sicily and try the food prepared by other local vendors. You will have the chance to taste Sicilian “street food” such as, “pane cunzato”(bread baked in a wooden-burning oven stuffed with olive oil, oregano, anchovies, tomatoes and “primo sale cheese”), “arancine”, lo “sfincione”(Sicilian style pizza), “panelle”(chickpea fritters) and plenty more.
When you return for dinner, a wine will be waiting for you in a setting with a warm ambiance and new friends with stories to share.
